Corona del Mar (Spanish for the Crown of the Sea) is a community of about 20,000. It ranges along a bluff at the south end of Newport Beach, nestled at the foot of the San Joaquin Hills and fronting the Pacific Ocean, and includes some of Orange County's most prestigious residential areas. .
Corona del Mar is known for its beaches, tide pools, cliff side views and quaint village. It has a great selection of shopping, restaurants, services and retail fashion shops.
Corona del Mar State Beach provides a fun place to play volleyball, watch the boats enter the harbor, exercise, body board, or just relax and enjoy the day.
Settled early in the 20th century, the older area of Corona del Mar consists mostly of closely spaced, free-standing, detached single-family houses of varying architecture, concentrated along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), and newer developments in Harbor View Hills consisting of California ranch style houses, many with expansive ocean views.
Corona del Mar has no locally administered municipal government, but receives all municipal level services from the City of Newport Beach.
